MUCFA Donates to the Mico University College

Sunday, September 30, 2018, The Jamaica Observer

The newly formed Mico University College Foundation of America (MUCFA) has donated $3 million in scholarships and student assistance to The Mico University College for the 2018-2019 academic year.

Eight students will be beneficiaries of this first set of awards, which comprise the Earle B Kennedy Scholarship, the Dr Benjamin Dias Scholarship, the Ashton Uter Scholarship, and the Class of '62 Scholarship.

MUCFA is a registered, non-profit, Internal Revenue Service-approved 501 (c) (3) corporation registered in the state of Illinois, USA. Its mission is to provide perpetual financial and expertise support to The Mico University College.

Dr Asburn Pinnock, president of Mico College, said, “Many of our students are experiencing challenges completing their studies because they just don't have the finances. This new facility, which is tax-free for donors, will encourage alumni, partners, and friends of The Mico in the Diaspora to donate funds for scholarships, as well as for infrastructural development of this institution.”
