Leo Chambers - CHAIR EMERITUS
B.Sc., MSc, Teacher’s Certificate (Mico College, Class of ’62)
Leo Chambers has shown drive and innovation throughout his professional life, and in pursuit of his goals of assistance to his alma mater. He is an excellent example of Mico College's motto "Do it with thy might", and has received a "Distinguished Graduate Of The Century (1900-2000)" award for outstanding service from the College. He holds a BSc in Chemistry from the University of the West Indies and MSc in Chemistry and Biology from Long Island University in the United States. He spent thirty-six years as a research and development professional, and as Director of Operations, Research and Development with Hoffmann-LaRoche Pharmaceutical Inc. Mr. Chambers is one of the Founders of MUCFA.
Executive Director – Mr. Trevor Thomas
BSc (Economics), MSc (Accounting), CA., FCA., Teacher’s Certificate (Mico College, Class of ‘62). Mr. Thomas is MUCFA’S Chief Financial Officer and Acting Chief Executive Officer and Secretary. He is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica, and a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of The Caribbean. Mr. Thomas was a career banker and General Manager - Treasury, Finance and Planning - for Mutual Security Bank, and General Manager - Finance and Planning - for National Commercial Bank (NCB). His professional experience also includes Director – Mutual Security Bank Cayman Ltd., Director – Computer Service and Programming Ltd., and Founding Director – Jamaica Money Market Brokers Ltd. He has worked with many not-for-profit and charitable entities including as Director – Jamaica Red Cross, Chairman of the Board - Jamaica Association for the Deaf Pre-School Center, and member of Alpha Academy Financial Advisory Board.
Executive Director - Dr. Karen Kennedy M.D.
Doctor of Medicine and graduate of the Upstate Medical School in Syracuse, NY with Family Medicine residency training at UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Family Medicine in New Brunswick, NJ. Dr. Kennedy held the position of Associate Program Director of the Brooklyn Hospital Family Medicine program in Brooklyn, NY. She transitioned to the Trinity Health Medical Group in Grand Rapids, MI serving as Community Benefit Ministry Medical Director to oversee the organization's Federally Qualified Health Centers. Currently, Dr. Kennedy continues there as Regional Medical Director and Board Chair, and serves as Lead Physician in THMG’s direct-to-employer office partnered with Lacks Enterprises. Dr. Kennedy has proudly served in an International Medicine rotation at an underserved clinic in Kingston Jamaica, and is a Director of the E. B. Kennedy Family Fund managed by MUCFA.
Director – Dr. Asburn Pinnock.
Dr. Pinnock has been in career educator since 1987 when he received Diploma in Teaching, Specializing in Secondary History & Social Studies from Sam Sharpe Teachers’ College. He continued his education receiving a Bachelor of Arts, History, Economics & Politics in 1991 from the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus. He became an Adjunct Professor in Educational Leadership at Central Connecticut State University in the United States and continued his studies earning a Masters of Science in International Area Studies (1996) at the same institution. Dr. Pinnock continued his passion for education by earning a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership degree in 2006. These achievements as well as his proven ability for leadership led Dr. Pinnock back to Jamaica where he became President of Mico University College.
Director - Ms. Sharon Bogues Wolfe
B.A. (Hons) University of the West Indies. M.A. Columbia University Teachers College, Teacher’s Certificate (Mico College, Class of ‘78).
Ms. Wolfe is the Director of Alumni Affairs & Development at Mico University College. She has had a varied career in Communications, Public Relations, Education, and Administration. Shen has held positions as Manager at Columbia University, English lecturer in Japan, Director of Strategic & Program Support at the MOEY/Heart Trust/NTA Institute, and Director of Communications at the Ministry of Education & Youth.
Director – Professor Dr. Neville Ying PhD, CD.
Dr Ying holds a M.A. in Statistics and Measurements, a PhD in Statistics, Measurements and Research Design (Psychometrics), and a Teacher's Certificate (Mico College, Class of 61). Professor Dr Ying is Past Pro Chancellor and Chairman, Board of Management Mico University College, and was Executive Director, Mona School of Business - University of the West Indies (UWI), and Chairman of the University of Cambridge Overseas Examination Commission in Jamaica. His professional experience also includes Chairman and Executive Director - Jamaica Institute of Management and Production (Now University of the Commonwealth Caribbean), and Chairman of the Advisory Board of The Management Institute for National Development (MIND). Dr. Ying received the National Award of Commander of Distinction for service to Education.
Director - Mr. Sylvester Tulloch, OD.
BSc (Hons), MBA, Teachers Certificate (Mico College, Class of ‘72)
Mr. Tulloch is Chairman of The Mico Foundation, and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Kemteck Development and Construction Ltd. He is Director and Vice Chairman of the Housing Agency of Jamaica. Mr. Tulloch received the National Award of Order of Distinction – Commander Class - in 2017 for public service. He also received the Mico University College’s 175th Anniversary Award in 2011 for distinguished service to Education.
Director - Mr. Milton Hanchard
Mr. Hanchard is a graduate of Mico Teachers College (1969), and presently a member of Mico University Alumni Association - New York Chapter. He served the teaching profession for 23 years between 1969 and 1992, including twenty years as Principal of Belfield All Age School. He is a Past Chair of the Islington Secondary School Board, Past Member of the St. Mary High School Board, Past President of the St. Mary Teachers Association and a Past Member of the Jamaica Teachers Association (JTA) Central Executive. His additional professional and voluntary endeavors included: Past Director of the Self Start Fund, and Past President and Senator of the St. Mary Jaycees. He has also "adopted" the Belfield All Age School. He is presently an Insurance Advisor professional in the New York area.
Director - Mr. Vittel Smart
Vittel Smart is a graduate of Mico University College, and holds a Diploma from the University Of The West Indies Institute of Education. He obtained a Msc. from Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service, Bronx, New York. He has been an entrepreneur from 1980 to the present, and has participated in various Sales, Marketing and Financial Management Seminars in the business industry as part of his professional development.
He has over 35 years experience and expertise in areas of Management, Sales, Marketing, Branding, Patenting, and Private Labeling, and his main focus is now team building, introducing new products, brand development, and sales growth of Jamaican style patties in the southeastern USA market.
Director - Derrick Warmington
Derrick Warmington is a business entrepreneur, and President and CEO of Rose N Dale Car Service Inc. He is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University and Mico University College. His professional experience includes: IBM Customer Service Coordinator in the USA, and teaching appointments at Tower Hill All Age School and Spanish Town Secondary School in Jamaica.
He is a Past President of Mico Alumni Association (MOSA), NY, and a former member of Community Board 13, Queens New York.
Director - Dr. Rosemarie Bryan
Dr. Bryan holds a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Northcentral University, Arizona, a Master of Arts in Leadership, Troy State University, Alabama, and a Master of Science in Early Childhood Education - Queens College, New York.She is a graduate of Mico Teachers College, Jamaica, and holds a Standard Professional Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education in the State of Georgia. She also holds a Standard Professional Leadership Certificate in Educational Leadership, and is a National Board Certified Teacher in the State of Georgia. Dr. Bryan has worked with elementary aged children for her whole teaching career as a classroom teacher, coach, and an Early Intervention Specialist, in Jamaica, and the States of New York and Georgia in the USA. Dr Bryan was engaged as consultant to MUCFA to write the MUC/MUCFA Scholarship Awards Protocol which has been adopted.
