MUCFA proudly remembers and honors the lasting generosity of the late Mr. Renis Blanford Johnson, a distinguished alumnus of The Mico University College whose vision and commitment to sustainability continue to shape the campus today. Through the generosity of the late Mr. Johnson, and the Johnson Family, solar panels were installed to power an irrigation well on the University’s campus. This enduring contribution supports both the University community and the environment while reflecting a deep commitment to responsible stewardship.
The solar powered well supplies water for irrigating large areas of the campus landscape, helping to keep the grounds vibrant and green throughout the year. By harnessing renewable solar energy, the system reduces the University’s reliance on electricity from the power grid, lowers operational costs, and minimizes environmental impact. The project demonstrates how forward looking philanthropy can translate into practical, long term solutions that strengthen daily campus operations.
Though Mr. Johnson is no longer with us, his legacy lives on through this meaningful investment. Students, faculty, and visitors benefit from a greener campus sustained by his generosity and the continued support of the Johnson Family. Commissioned on February 12, 2025, and dedicated in memory of Renis Blanford Johnson, the solar installation stands as a lasting reminder of how alumni engagement can extend well beyond graduation, shaping the future for generations to come. MUCFA and The Mico University College remain deeply grateful for this gift and are honored to continue building upon the values it represents, sustainability, foresight, and care for the environment.
